A note to Sojourner's readers!

There are some crazy people in the world and some of them (although it could be one person?) have found their way to this blog. This afternoon I deleted an extremely lengthy, offensive, and highly disturbing post (this is not the first one either). Consequently, I've moved to having visitors sign-in after leaving a comment. I know that many of my fellow bloggers already have implemented this feature. I don't know if it was just wisdom on their part or if they too had received their share of intrusive and insane posts. I don't even know if this will keep the crazies at bay, but I think it is worth a try.

Well, I just wanted you to know what's behind the sign-in and hope that it doesn't deter you from leaving a message.

Have a safe holiday!

Please be careful out. Clearly, there are people out there who are even scarier than bad drivers.

Dear Sharon:

Somebody left me a rambling religious text about 12, 000 words long last week. After reading your note it seems to me that someone is simply making the rounds. You have to wonder if these are the actions of a small person (with a peculiar notion of fun) or an individual who believes in this stuff.

The remedy is easily enough applied though.

Fondest regards,
Jack

Sharon, in situations like this, your best friend is the delete key. Brent

Jack, I think it is a "small person who believes in this stuff." The rant I received had religion in it too but it was also incredibly racist, sexist, and violently disturbing! This stuff gives me nightmares. Seriously!

Brent, you're absolutely right! I just couldn't help reading a bit of it before I deleted it. That was a huge mistake. Huge! Thanks.

Hey Sharon, I get those types of comments also. It's sad that the internet has become the play ground of the unstable. I delete several comments each time i log on. I am considering stepping back from it for a while. It's not just the wackos, it's also the inflexable majority of bikers out there that cant stand someone who has a different opinion or point of view. I have to little free time as it is, and don't need to put up with those idots either. -Crusty

Crusty--What is wrong with some people?! I just don't get it! These people are cowards, hiding being a computer screen trying to wreck havoc with the rest of the world! Hopefully, they are a microscopic minority--hopefully!
